Accommodations
Convention Hotels
Extra 2011 West has three official Convention Hotels. All are located in the middle of downtown Sacramento, where you’ll find the city’s best shopping and restaurants all within a few blocks of the Convention Hotels. Visit one of the city’s historical museums nearby or take a trip back to the Gold Rush days while exploring Old Sacramento.
The first Convention Hotel is the Sheraton Grand Sacramento Hotel, located in the beautifully restored historic Public Market Building at 1230 J Street, in the heart of downtown Sacramento, California's state capital. The second Convention Hotel is the Hyatt Regency Sacramento, located a block away at 1209 L Street and fresh from a top-to-bottom renovation. The third Convention Hotel (added 4/29/11) is The Citizen Hotel, located 3 blocks west at 926 J Street. Those "in-the-know" call The Citizen the "best hotel in Sacramento." Every room has an Apple Mac Mini computer.
All hotels are just a few steps from the Sacramento Convention Center and just north of the State Capitol Complex.
In compliance with California law, all three hotels and the Sacramento Convention Center are 100% non-smoking facilities.
Hotel Reservations
The X2011 West Housing Bureau has closed and reservations made have been transferred to the hotels. All attendees who have made reservations should receive a new confirmation number directly from the hotel. The number that was received earlier was not the hotel confirmation number, but a reservation acknowledgement number generated by the housing bureau.
As for anyone looking for a room, The Sheraton Grand and The Citizen Hotel are SOLD OUT, but the Hyatt has expanded and extended their room block.
As long as rooms remain, the Hyatt Regency will honor the $109 rate for King and Double rooms, (Max two persons, additional people in a room are more).
To make reservations at the special convention rate, call 1-800-233-1234 (the Hyatt Central Reservation line) or the Hotel directly at (916) 443-1234, and refer to either "NMRA" or "The National Model Railroad Association".
Interesting Fun Fact
Julia Morgan, noted American architect, designed the building where the Sheraton Grand Sacramento is located. She also designed over 700 other buildings during her long career and is best known for her work on Hearst Castle in San Simeon, California. She was the first woman to graduate with a degree in architecture from the famous Ecole des Beaux-Arts ("School of Fine Arts") in Paris, France.

Parking
Please note that parking at the Convention Hotels is $18 per night for guests which is, unfortunately, typical for hotels in large cities where parking is limited. There are In/Out privileges. The Convention Committee tried to negotiate a less expensive parking rate, but the hotels would not agree.
In addition to parking facilities at either convention hotel, parking is also available at several nearby public and private parking facilities. For more information on city-operated locations and rates, see the City of Sacramento Parking Service website. For privately-owned lots, refer to this list of parking lots near the Convention Center.
