The committee for Extra 2011 West, The Unconventional Convention, has always tried to be non-traditional regarding the NMRA banquet…at the San Jose 2000 NMRA Convention we held the banquet on an aircraft carrier! At this Convention, instead of the traditional banquet, we will again be doing something different.
We're having a Nonquet!
Saturday — 7:30 PM to 11:00 PM
On Saturday evening, save some money and have a nice dinner in a local restaurant. Then come back for dessert and a very special event starting at 7:30 PM. Winterail, which started over 30 years ago, was the first and is still the premier railroad photography show. For the first 25 years, the medium was color slides; everything is now digital. Wonderful and inspiring railroad images are choreographed to music in a way that enhances the storyline and completely immerses the viewer into the photos. Presentations over the years have been by such railroad photography masters as Richard Steinheimer, Ted Benson, Jim Shaughnessy, Jim Boyd, and Dick Dorn. Attendance at these shows runs close to 1,000 fans!
Vic Neves has been running the Winterail presentations for the past two decades and will entertain us this evening with several of these popular presentations. Dessert will be served and there will be a No-Host bar. Award announcements will be handled during the intermissions between the shows. Expect outstanding photography that even non-railroad enthusiasts and non-rails will enjoy.
Both events are open to all X2011 attendees!
