The Extra 2011 West Convention Hotel is the Sheraton Grand Sacramento Hotel, located in the beautifully restored historic Public Market Building at 1230 J Street, in the heart of downtown Sacramento, California's state capital.
The Sheraton Grand Sacramento is just a few steps from the Sacramento Convention Center and one block north of the State Capitol Complex. You’ll find the city’s best shopping and restaurants within blocks of the hotel. Visit one of the city’s historical museums nearby or take a trip back to the Gold Rush days while exploring Old Sacramento.
Enjoy an array of dining selections with upscale California cuisine at Morgan’s Central Valley Bistro or fresh-baked pastries and espresso at Glides Market Café. Guests may also enjoy drinks and lounge amidst the numerous couches and overstuffed chairs at the Public Market Bar.
The NMRA room block at the NMRA rate will first be made available through the Extra 2011 West Convention website to convention registrants in late 2010. Please do not contact the hotel for reservations until advised to do so by the Extra 2011 West Convention Registrar. The hotel will not have any NMRA convention registration information until that time.
Julia Morgan, noted American architect, designed the building the Sheraton Grand Sacramento Hotel is in. She also designed over 700 other buildings during her long career and is best known for her work on Hearst Castle in San Simeon, California. She was the first woman to graduate with a degree in architecture from the famous Ecole des Beaux-Arts ("School of Fine Arts") in Paris, France.
See you in Sacramento!
