The Unconventional Convention

Museum Day

Thursday, July 7 is Museum Day

Although your convention badge will give you admission to the California State Railroad Museum (CSRM) at any time between registration and the end of the Convention, you may want to consider visiting the Museum on Thursday evening when it is closed to the public and open only to convention attendees. The evening's events start at 4:30 PM with an opportunity to hear NMRA officials explain the concept, timing, and plans for a new Gallery Exhibit. The Museum will close to the public at 5:00 PM for our special hours. The formal Carpet Cutting for the new display will occur at 5:30 PM.

While you certainly don't want to miss the evening's festivities, don't restrict yourself to them either. We have special events planned throughout the day as well as the evening hours, and a shuttle bus (Tour P500) to provide transportation between the Convention Center and the Museum, as well as other area attractions.

One special feature of the afternoon and evening will be rides on the Museum's Sacramento Southern Railroad behind Granite Rock #10.
