Evening Events

We will even have some evening events. Come join us for Movie Night, Bingo and Game Night.

Non-Rail Room

Come by and visit the Non-Rail Room (Convention Center, Room 301) during the following hours:

  • Sunday, 1:00 -7:00 PM
  • Monday — Friday, 9:00 AM — 9:30 PM
  • Saturday, 9:00 AM — 4:00 PM

Non-Rail Lunch

Tuesday July 5, 11:30 AM - 2:00 PM, Regency Ballroom ABC (1st floor)

We will have a delicious lunch at the Hyatt. Our guest speaker will be Julie Riley of the Sacramento Convention & Visitors Bureau. She will be sharing with us the history of the area, things to do and places to go.

Non-Rail Project

We will again be continuing with the Project Linus program that was started at the NMRA convention in Seattle. For those not familiar with Project Linus, it is a nationwide project that provides blankets and quilts for children who are seriously ill, traumatized, or otherwise in need. We will be giving our creations to the Sacramento Chapter of Project Linus.

How can you help?

  • Stop by the Non-Rail Room to sew up a few blocks.
  • Help assemble and tie quilts.
  • You can also sew quilts or fleece blankets or crochet or knit afghans at home and then bring them with you to Sacramento.

Thank you!

Susan Swindell
Project Linus Coordinator

All week in the Non-Rail Room (Convention Center, Room 301)

  • Sunday, 1:00 -7:00 PM
  • Monday — Friday, 9:00 AM — 9:30 PM
  • Saturday, 9:00 AM – 4:00 PM

Book Exchange

How many of us carry a book to read on our travels, finish it and then need a new book to read on the way home? Bring gently read books and we will set up a table in the Non-Rail Room and trade books. Any books leftover after the convention will be donated to the local library and women's shelter.

E-Mail Cookbook

We have decided to put together an NMRA Non-Rail Cookbook. We will be collecting recipes at the convention, or you can email them to the Non-Rail Chair at nonrailcoord@x2011west.org. After the convention, we will compile them and e-mail them to all who would like to have the collection. So, bring or send your favorite recipes. We will take all entries – appetizers, salads, main dishes, sides, dessert, vegetarian, vegan, sugar free, gluten free, or whatever. The sign-up sheet for e-mail addresses will be in the Non-Rail Room.
